Town of Parry Sound Welcomes Michael Kearns as the Director of Public Works

Parry Sound, ON, January 22, 2020 - Mayor Jamie McGarvey and Council are pleased to announce that Mr. Michael Kearns is joining the Town’s Senior Leadership Team as the Director of Public Works for the Town of Parry Sound.

“On behalf of Council, I’m very pleased to welcome Michael Kearns as our Director of Public Works” said Mayor McGarvey. “Mr. Kearns brings over 13 years’ experience in the Municipal Public Works Management; he is returning to the employ of the Town of Parry Sound as Michael previously worked as a Water/Wastewater Operator.  We look forward to Michael joining the Senior Leadership Team and utilizing his experience and education here at the Town.”

Mr. Kearns is a Certified Member of OACETT as an Applied Science Technologist (A.Sc.T) having graduated from Sir Sandford Fleming College from the Geoscience Data Technician Program as well as the Environmental Geoscience Technology Program.  Michael has continued his professional education through AMCTO taking several courses over his career.

Mr. Kearns started his career with the Town of Parry Sound as a Water/Wastewater Operator in the mid 2000s, before moving north. Michael served as Director of Public Works in the Town of Iroquois Falls and most recently worked as the Manager of Operational Services in a local area municipality.

Mr. Kearns will be assuming his responsibilities with the Town effective January 27, 2020.
