Applying for a permit

A building permit is required for new construction, renovations, demolition, and change of use.

To obtain a building permit you must submit a complete application, which meets the requirements for a house or commercial permit.

After we receive a complete application, a building inspector will review it. If your plans conform to the Ontario Building Code, we will issue a permit.

Once we have issued a permit, you must post the permit in a visible location. Approved plans must be kept on site and available to the inspector and the project manager must call for inspections. Our requirement for notice is 48 hours. To call for inspection or for other building inquiries please contact the Building Department.
