The Town of Parry Sound offers recreation opportunities for all ages of community members.  For more information on adult recreation opportunities in Town, please click on the recreation program listed below.

COVID-19 Update

(March 21, 2022) - The Bobby Orr Community Centre is open to the public as the Province of Ontario further eases restrictions and moves to the Roadmap Exit Step.

For additional information and reference please visit the updated provincial regulations.

Effective March 21, 2022, the Province of Ontario has lifted masking requirements in most indoor public settings, including meeting and event spaces, and sport and recreation facilities.  As of March 21, patrons will no longer be required to wear face masks in the Bobby Orr Community Centre, but may continue to wear a facemask if they wish to do so.  

Please note the following  guidelines remain in effect at the Bobby Orr Community Centre:

  • Proof of Vaccination is not required prior to entry. 

  • Passive Screening is to be completed by individuals prior to entry.  Signage for verification will be posted at the entrance. 

  • No restriction on capacity limits. 

  • Drop-in recreation programs are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.  There is no need to pre-register for drop-in programs.

This web page will be updated as new information regarding the impact of public health restrictions on the operations of the Bobby Orr Community Centre is made available.

Essentrics® Stretch and Tone (Outdoors)

Essentrics® Stretch and Tone is a dynamic, full-body workout that simultaneously combines stretching and strengthening, while engaging all 650 muscles of the body. This 60-minute low-impact class will be comprised of standing-only exercises and will leave you feeling energized, youthful and healthy.

Core objectives of Essentrics® Stretch and Tone include:

  • rebalance your body
  • unlock tight joints
  • improve your posture
  • tone and shape your body
  • increase flexibility and strength

This class will take place outdoors and may be subject to postponement due to inclement weather.  Instructor can be contacted below to answer questions regarding the program.

Where: Tower Hill Gardens, 19 George St., Parry Sound ON, P2A 2R2

When: Sundays, August 7 - 28 from 10:00 - 11:00 AM

Cost: $40 per person per session + HST.  Please note that drop-in participants will be welcomed on a first-come, first-serve basis if there are spots available in the class.  Drop-in registrations are $15 per class, and can be paid at the time of the program.

What to Bring: Participants are asked to bring their own yoga mat, and clothes to exercise in.

Floor Curling (Drop-in)

Floor Curling is a modified version of the Olympic sport of curling with one major difference – no ice!  It offers participants a great introduction to the game, or a way to continue your love for the game beyond the ice surface.

Where: Bobby Orr Community Centre (Stanley Cup Hall), 7 Mary St, Parry Sound, ON P2A 1C8

When: Wednesdays, 1:00 - 3:00 PM, beginning September 29, 2021.

What to Bring: Players should bring clean running shoes to play.  All equipment is provided!

Cost: $1 per person

Line Dancing (Drop-in)

No partner is necessary for this dance activity!  Line dancing is a great activity for maintaining flexibility and balance, and is just downright fun!  No experience required, all abilities are welcome to join.

Where: Bobby Orr Community Centre (Stanley Cup Hall), 7 Mary St, Parry Sound, ON P2A 1C8

When: Fridays, 9:30 - 10 AM beginner session, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM regular session, beginning October 1, 2021.

Cost: $1 per person

Minds in Motion®

The Town of Parry Sound has partnered with the Alzheimer's Society of Muskoka to offer the Minds in Motion program.

Minds in Motion is a community-based social program that incorporates physical and mental stimulation for people with early to mid-stage Alzheimer's disease or other forms of dementia and their care partners.  Through the 8-week Minds in Motion program, both the person living with dementia and their care partner can benefit from the following:

  • Increasing physical activity through gentle group exercise.
  • Establishing new friendships with others who are living with similar experiences.
  • Engaging in fun, social activities.

Minds in Motion

Pickleball (Drop-in)

Pickleball is a game similar to tennis, played on a smaller court with paddles and a wiffle ball.  Pickleball offers participants a terrific workout and social opportunities.  New players are welcome, and will be guided through the basic rules and technique of the sport.  Join in, and see why Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in North America!

Where: Bobby Orr Community Centre (Stanley Cup Hall), 7 Mary St, Parry Sound, ON P2A 1C8

When: Wednesdays, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM, beginning September 29, 2021.

What to Bring: Players should wear athletic attire, and bring clean running shoes to play.  Although paddles and balls are available for use, participants are welcome to bring their own equipment too!

Cost: $1 per person

Shuffleboard (Drop-in)

Floor shuffleboard is now being offered in the Town of Parry Sound.  All equipment is provided, no experience necessary.  Come out for an afternoon of activity, socializing, and fun!  Please bring a pair of clean running shoes to play.

When: Thursdays, 1:00 - 3:00 PM, beginning September 30, 2021.

What to Bring: Players should bring clean running shoes to play.  All equipment is provided!
