Snowfest 2022

Due to the safety restrictions in place, and the uncertainty surrounding future restrictions in place to curb the spread of COVID, Snowfest will offer virtual and select outdoor activities for the public in 2022.  All activities have been designed so that the public can take part at their own leisure, and with respect to COVID safety measures in place.

Snowfest is here again, and that means it's time to get outside and have some winter fun!  

While our celebrations will look a little different this year, we are still bringing you activities to shake the winter blues leading up to Family Day on February 21, 2022.  Check out the activities we have to offer below!

February 3, 2022

  • Colouring contest opens!  For more information, see this webpage, or find the colouring page in the February 3, 10, and 17 editions of the Beacon Star.

February 13, 2022

  • Photography Contest opens!  See below for more details and for photo submission instructions.  Contest closes at 11:59 PM on February 21.
  • Mayor McGarvey's Landmark Scavenger Hunt opens and the first clue is available!  Clues will be published on this webpage, and on the Town's Facebook page daily through February 19.  Contest closes at 11:59 PM on February 21.

Mayor McGarvey's Landmark Scavenger Hunt

Take part in this historical landmark scavenger hunt across Parry Sound, find the landmarks, and enter for your chance to win 1 of 4 gift certificates to local businesses!

Each day from February 13 to February 19, find clues to historical landmarks in Parry Sound on our Facebook page, and right here on this web page.  Find specially marked signage at each landmark and scan the QR code for some local history about each landmark courtesy of the Museum on Tower Hill.  Take a photo of you and your group at each landmark, and save it for later!

Once you've found at least one landmark, enter your Scavenger Hunt submission form by clicking the link below.  Remember, you get one entry for the draw for each landmark you find, so the more landmarks you correctly identify, the more chances you have to win!

Mayor McGarvey's Landmark Scavenger Hunt Contest Rules

A big thank you to Mayor McGarvey for sponsoring all our contest prizes, and thanks to the Museum on Tower Hill for sharing stories and knowledge on the history of our local landmarks.

Landmark Location Clues

Clue #1: Once used to spot distant danger; this vantage point was the workplace of a Forestry Ranger.

Clue #2: Advocate of First Nation rights, and a hero of the War; I stand tall and proud keeping watch over our shores.

Clue #3: On the corner of the crossroads is where I stand; I quench the travellers’ thirst, be he beast or man.

Clue #4: Almost 150 years she's been at the bottom of the Bay; in her namesake park her relic is displayed.

Clue #5: I would call the crew to action when they heard my ring; but I’ve retired to the ground where I no longer swing.

Clue #6: Once a stay for tourists, it burnt to the ground; now a home for our elders with the best views around.

Clue #7: Named in honour of World War One; please take a seat, class has begun!
