The Town of Parry Sound does not operate a public dump or landfill but there is a transfer station located at the end of MacFarlane Street. It is open to all Town of Parry Sound residents and businesses with valid proof. Some items need garbage tags.

Collection and disposal of garbage and other refuse is covered under By-law 2008-5284 as amended.

Please look at the transfer station hours before bringing your waste. The transfer station is open on Sundays from mid-April to mid-October. Please see Important Dates Regarding Public Works Services for the exact dates.

All Town of Parry Sound residents get 1 free dump day coupon every year. Use this coupon at the transfer station to get rid of items that need garbage tags. If you do not get a coupon in the mail please contact the Public Works Department.

Commercial cardboard must be brought to the transfer station by 2pm.

Electronic waste is accepted at the transfer station for residents and businesses. There is no charge to get rid of the accepted electronic waste.

**Effective July 2, 2019 appliances containing freon will require 5 garbage tags per appliance.  Garbage tags are $5 each and can be purchased at the Town office (52 Seguin St.), Hillcrest Grocers (108 William St.) and at the transfer station (coins only).

Dispose of used single use batteries free of charge. These batteries will be recycled into new materials. Click here [External link – Page not Found] to view what happens to recycled batteries. What type of batteries are accepted?

Rechargeable Batteries - commonly found in cordless power tools, cordless phones, laptops, cellphones, cameras, two way radios, biomedical equipment, etc.
