Community Support Services is committed to serving seniors through a wide variety of quality volunteer services. They believe that caring quality services must be easily accessible and promote an individual's safety and well-being. Their programs are designed to assist individuals to maintain their independence in their home and in their community.
They offer a number of programs for seniors:
This program provides education programs, resources and awareness of signs that a senior may be at risk, and include: sharing knowledge and resources that help is available and how it can be accessed; providing take home meal preparation lessons; hosting events that offer learning opportunities about a diverse range of topics, followed by a lunch; providing awareness training about issues related to seniors; providing volunteer outreach services to seniors; providing an "Adopt a Senior" program for seniors who may be isolated and/or alone; supporting and providing space for seniors fitness and wellness related programs.
Dining with friends in their local communities, these events provide essential and valuable community connections between seniors. They also provide opportunities for seniors to volunteer.
Hot meals/frozen meals are offered for a fee, which can be tailored to specialized dietary needs. They can also be delivered. Fruit and veggies program is offered every 2nd and 4th Friday of each month when a bag of fruits or a bag of vegetables is prepared and sold to seniors. The goods are washed, prepared and packaged for use.
Transportation services are provided to those who require transportation to medical appointments and other business. Wheel chair accessible transportation is also available. Services are designed to support and serve those who are frail and elderly. Local and long distance services are provided.
