Big Snow! Snow Dump Update
Big Snow = Big Pile (Snow Dump Update)
You may notice our snow dump is looking especially large this winter—and yes, we agree, it’s impressive! We’re sharing these photos because the snow dump is not a public access area, and we want residents to be able to see the scale of it without entering the site.
The repeated snowfalls over the past several weeks have meant our plows, crews and contractors have been moving a significant amount of snow to keep roads, sidewalks, and municipal parking areas as clear and safe as possible.
Fun Fact! Crews have been moving over 250 loads of snow every 24 hours – that’s a lot of snow! There continues to be three shifts of snow removal crews between contractors and Town staff.
Snow storage areas grow quickly in a winter with frequent storms and limited melt between events. The snow dump helps keep snow piles out of roadways and reduces the need for snow to be stored in tighter areas around town.
A quick reminder:
For safety, the snow dump remains closed to the public. If travelling through, please admire it from a distance and keep clear of equipment and working areas.
We sincerely thank the community for their patience this season—and a huge thank you to our winter maintenance crews for the long hours they’ve put in to keep the community moving!
