Smoke Testing of Sanitary Sewers

The Town of Parry Sound, together with Tatham Engineering Ltd., will be conducting sanitary sewer smoke testing in the Sanitary Pumping Station No. 11 catchment area.

Testing will take place during daylight hours between August 17^th and September 11^th, 2026.

Smoke testing helps identify locations where improvements to the sanitary sewer system may be required. Testing involves blowing smoke into the sanitary manholes and observing where the smoke exits. During testing, non-toxic smoke may be seen coming from manholes, roof vents, catch basins, yard drains, or other sewer connections.

If smoke enters your home or business, please open windows for ventilation and contact the Town of Parry Sound Public Works Department at 705-746-2101.
