Parking Study Open House #2 - November 5, 2026
The Town of Parry Sound has retained LEA Consulting Ltd. (LEA) to undertake a parking study within the Downtown and Waterfront area with a focus on modernizing the Town’s municipal parking system to support sustainable economic growth, improve the downtown user experience, and address the needs of local businesses, residents and seasonal visitors.
The Parking Plan provides recommendations to improve the utilization of on- and off-street parking in the downtown and waterfront areas. The study reviewed the current state of the City’s on-street and off-street parking to understand existing parking demand and assessed the future needs based on forecasted growth and mobility trends. The Parking Plan aligns with broader Town planning goals and objectives that aim to support a vibrant, economically resilient downtown while meeting the long-term needs of the DBA and surrounding area.
The study reviewed the Town’s municipal parking supply and regulations to understand existing parking demand and assess future needs. The study will recommend improvements to the current parking system in the following key areas:
· Parking supply
· Accessibility
· Operations and enforcement
· Wayfinding and other infrastructure
· Other parking considerations (e.g., EV charging)
