Water and Sewer Billing
The Town of Parry Sound bills you for the local water and sewer services. The Town sends the bill every three months but each month has a due date. Each bill has removable slips at the bottom which include:
- Due date
- Amount due
- Account number
- Customer's name
Am I a metered customer?
If you have a water meter installed in your home or business, then you are a metered customer. The Town reads the meter and prints the bill. This bill covers the three months leading up to the bill date.
If you do not have a water meter, then you are a flat rate customer. The Town prints the bills and mails them on the second month of the billing cycle. This means that the bill sent in February is for water used in January, February and March.

The Town of Parry Sound's rates are divided into four parts:
- Water Usage Rates
- Water Capital/Base Rates
- Sewer Usage Rates
- Sewer/Base Capital Rates
What is a "usage rate"?
Usage rates are set based on the operating costs for water and sewer. Examples of operating costs are staff wages, distribution costs, and plant maintenance costs.
What is a "capital/base rate"?
Capital rates are set based on the expected capital-related costs. Examples of capital costs are the costs to put new pipes in the ground, and treatment facilities. The purpose of these charges is to help reduce the amount of debt required to finance these projects.
How are the rates set?
In 2020 there was a rate study performed by Watson and Associates and the water and sewer rates were set until 2029.
