Municipal Dog Pound

The Town operates the West Parry Sound Municipal Dog Pound for the Town of Parry Sound, McDougall Township, Carling Township, Municipality of Whitestone and Seguin Township. The dogs which are impounded were found running at large; off of their owner's property.

How to reclaim your pet

The dog pound is not open to the public. To make an appointment to reclaim your pet, contact the By-law Enforcement Department at 705-746-2413 between 9 am and 4 pm, 7 days a week. The cost to claim your pet is $50.00 per day impounded.

Your dog is missing

If your dog is missing check the Temporary Dog Impound page. If your dog is not at the pound please post your lost dog information on the municipal dog pound Facebook wall.

What happens to an unclaimed pound dog

The dog pound is not a shelter. After 72 hours an impounded dog may be transferred to an animal shelter where it will be assessed for adoption. Generally, the pound dogs are transferred to the Muskoka OSPCA.
