Freedom of Information Requests

Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA)

Would you like access to records that the Town of Parry Sound controls? The purpose of this Provincial Act is to provide a right of access to information under the control of institutions, such as municipalities. Some records are exempt There are some exemptions from the right of access that are part of the MFIPPA Act.

Fees

The following fees apply to Freedom of Information Requests:

$7.50 per 15 minutes of time spent searching for, retrieving and preparing a record for disclosure, including the time to sever any part of the record in accordance with the exemptions under the Act.

$0.20 per page for photocopying and computer printouts.

Other fees may apply depending on the nature of the requests. 

Your request must be made on an FOI Request Form accompanied by payment of $5.00. Payment may be made by EFT, cash, debit, cheque or money order payable to the Town of Parry Sound.

If we believe your request will cost more than $25.00, we will contact you for approval to proceed or to give you the opportunity to revise your request in order to reduce the cost.  We require a 50 per cent deposit on the estimated cost of the request if we believe it will be more than $100.00.  Records will not be released until all outstanding fees are paid.

The Freedom of Information (FOI) Head has 30 days to respond to your request and depending on the detail of the request there may be further costs. For more information about MFIPPA please contact the Information and Privacy Commissioner.
