By-law Enforcement
The By-law Department is responsible for the enforcement of the Town's by-laws and operation of the municipal dog pound. The dedicated team is committed to providing customer service in a timely and effective manner. We will attempt to achieve voluntary compliance primarily through education and mediation. However, at times enforcement and prosecution is required.
The purpose of the department is to assist with providing:
- public safety,
- maintaining community standards
-
dealing with the communities nuisance issues.
The most common problems the department deals with are:
- animal control
- parking
- business licensing
- taxi licensing
- clean yards
- property standards
- and noise infractions
The department responds to issues on a complaint basis with the exception of parking. A complaint can be registered by contacting the municipal office.
The By-law Department hours of operation are as follows:
Monday to Friday - 8:30 am. to 4:30 pm.
Staff may work random weekends and evening depending on the need for service.
The By-law Department is available after hours for emergency calls only by contacting the answering service at (705)746-2413. Example of an after hours emergency call: OPP or Emergency Services requiring assistance; a found stray dog; a dog that has bitten and is still at large.
