Candidate Package
Nominations open Friday May 1, 2026 at 8:30 a.m. and close on Friday August 21, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. In order to run for Council in the 2026 Municipal Election, you must complete all forms within the Candidate Package prior to submission (with the exception of your signatures).
Contents of the Candidate Package include:
- Nomination Form (Updated Form to come in April)
- Endorsement of Nominations Form - 25 signatures (Updated Form to come in April)
- Candidate’s Consent to Release Personal Information (see below)
- Declaration of Qualifications (see below)
- Proof of identification

Withdrawal Deadline: Candidates have until 2:00 pm on Nomination Day (Friday, August 21, 2026) to withdraw their nomination.
Book an Appointment: All candidates must book an appointment with Election Staff to file nomination papers. Email: electionhelp@parrysound.ca to book.
Candidate List: Once filed, candidate names will be posted on the Town website.
When to Start Campaigning: The Municipal Elections Act (MEA) does not prevent a person who is thinking about becoming a candidate from speaking about their intentions prior to filing their nomination, or from undertaking self-promotion that does not incur expenses.
The MEA does prohibit a candidate from incurring expenses or accepting contributions before they have filed their nomination form. Potential candidates should ensure that they are not accepting contributions or incurring expenses before filing their nomination.
