Cats

The Town does not have a by-law regulating cats. The Town will work with residents to reduce cat nuisance issues and the overpopulation of cats.

Nuisance Cats Deterrent Program

Residents can borrow a device called "Cat Stop" to deter cats from their property. The "Cat Stop" emits an ultrasonic sound that startles the cats and teaches them to stay away from the area.

Spay and Neuter Programs

The Town offers two different programs to residents:

  1. A rebate program for persons with limited financial resources.   This program is available for dogs and cats.  Residents must fill out the application and submit with a quote from their vet (proof of income may be required).  If approved the Town will provide a rebate after surgery is complete.  You must fill out the form and receive approval prior to making a spay/neuter appointment for your pet.
  2. Cat Spay Neuter Event Days.  Typically held twice a year Parry Sound residents can apply to have their cat transported to a high volume spay neuter clinic for surgery.
