Wildlife
The Town of Parry Sound is full of wildlife, including reptiles, birds, and mammals. Wildlife is always best viewed from a distance.
Special Presentation - Co-existing with black bears in Parry Sound and the surrounding area
With an increase in black bear activity in the community, the public has voiced their concern. Join expert speaker Dr. John Beecham, Bear Biologist/Consultant, for an engaging experience where you can learn how to co-exist with black bears in safe and respectful ways
Nuisance Prevention
To prevent nuisance animals the Town of Parry Sound requires that you keep all garbage stored in an enclosed container, if it is stored outside. This container can be as simple as a garbage can with a lid or it can be something more secure - like a shed.
Feeding Wildlife
The Town of Parry Sound does not have a municipal bylaw prohibiting people from feeding wildlife. The Town supports the Ministry of Natural Resources view that feeding wild animals may do more harm than good.
Emergency
If you feel there is an immediate threat to a person from wildlife call the police at 911.
Non-Emergency Nuisance Bear
To report a nuisance bear call the Bear Wise reporting line: 1-866-514-2327.
